Santa Cruz Smithies have their own budding book club! Come join the fun discussing Toni Morrison's "Sula" at this first meeting.

Carmel Area Book Club News

Meetings are held the 3nd Wednesday of the month in the Carmel area. Books are available at
Bookworks and the Thunderbird, with a discount for club members.

We have selected books for the next few months as follows:

January: Cherry by Mary Karr
(This is the sequel to The Liar's Club. Some of you may want to read that
book in December, although we will not have a meeting)

February: Plainsong by Kent Haruf

March: Four Letters of Love by Niall Williams

April: Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver

We haven't selected any further books, but other books mentioned included
Shopgirl by Steve Martin and The Blue Angel by Francine Prose. Summer
reading suggestions included Jill Ker Conway and Elizabeth Kennan's mystery
co-written under the pen name Clare Munnings and titled Overnight Float.
