The "Ride With Your Mind" approach is a tremendous advance in equestrian teaching science and facilitates learning the skills needed to excel in any riding endeavor. It shows any rider how to organize her mind and body in the same way as "naturally talented" riders do without thinking. This enables each person to learn the right feel or goal and thus to achieve the same results. The techniques used are very streamlined. By increasing the rider's body awareness, and using images which help her understand both what to do and how to do it, incredible improvements can be obtained in a very short time, defying traditional expectations.
Truly a revolutionary thinker in the equestrian world, Mary Wanless has brought into the traditional world of riding instruction the benefits of recent advances in sports psychology, biomechanics, and other sports sciences. Her books & videos offer insight to new ways of
mastering the age-old skills of good riding. She is after the right way for each student to discover their unique path to acquiring the skills to master their own body and subsequently their horse. For many, including very advanced riders, her work opens up an entirely new
level of harmony and understanding to the intricacies of quality riding and communication. The focus is on effective communication and optimal biomechanics for horse AND rider.
Klaus is a model we often refer to, Tanya Vik has grown tremendously with advanced rider skills and is now on the developing horse/rider list and went to Gladstone Summer 2007, USET rider Sandy Howard credits Mary with changing her entire focus on riding and finds teaching using Mary's skills a quantum leap from her old approach.
For information to arrange a clinic or seminar with Mary her address, phone, and additional book and video information is listed at:

All of her books are available through Amazon.com or your favorite equestrian
bookseller.
Riding Clinics
Semiprivate lesson packages usually available. Dismounted
Q & A sessions daily reviewing concepts and furthering understanding via dismounted exercises and
observation. Auditing available for riding clinics only -- which is highly recommended for participants
in Teacher Training.
Teacher Training Seminars
Mary uses a highly effective format of demonstration riders, lecture/discussion,
and dismounted workshops to teach instructors to gain communication and rapport skills
as well as define the optimal goal from a biomechanical perspective.
Always educational - even if you have attended previous workshops - as this work continues to be refined and advanced. Designed for instructors, but beneficial to any rider or trainer who participates in a teacher-pupil relationship. Learning and teaching are skills that can be continually developed. Review of her books and/or tapes is highly recommended but not necessary. Be prepared to discuss and participate - these sessions are highly interactive! Be prepared for frank discussion, if you need a politically correct session this is not for you - this format is not unkind but we are not going to tiptoe around rider or horse problems as we are all here to learn to sort out and solve them!
